The Charitable Choice Chronicles - June 2020

In these challenging times the Charitable Choice team has been strategizing about how we can provide a better service to our users as well as our charity beneficiaries and engaging in some much-needed spring cleaning. I'm sure many of you can relate.

We've welcomed Nifraz Rifaz to our Board of Directors, commenced a website improvement project and WOW you should see our spick-and-span office - think Marie Kondo meets 10 years of paper files.

Our charity beneficiaries continue to need your support so please do take the time to visit our website to #FindYourCause. Every small donation counts. Read our Chronicles for more inspiration on charitable giving!

We are pleased to announce that Nifraz Rifaz joined the Board of Directors of Charitable Choice with effect from 1 June 2020. In his role as Director of Communications and Public Relations, Nifraz will provide strategic guidance and direction on Communications and Public Relations to improve visibility of Charitable Choice and strengthen partnerships with individual and corporate donors and 45+ registered charities in Hong Kong.

Please join us in welcoming Nifraz to the Charitable Choice team!

Fidelity feeds Hong Kong
We'd like to thank Fidelity International Hong Kong staff who got active in April to help raise funds for coronavirus relief by supporting two terrific local charities - Feeding Hong Kong and Hong Kong Red Cross.

A big shout out to the Fidelity CSR Committee who inspired their colleagues to get fit while making a charitable choice during these challenging times!

Running for charity
Hong Kong's Running Community ran a fundraising campaign in the month of May to raise funds for Feeding Hong Kong.

Thanks to the generosity of these runners, over 800 meals were provided to the underprivileged in Hong Kong. Thanks for running to make a charitable choice!

Rock your Dad's world with a Charity Gift Card

Father's Day is coming up on 21 June and we have the perfect gift for Dad.

Send this groovy Father's Day charity gift card to impress your Dad while also helping those less fortunate in Hong Kong.

Enhanced screening of credit cards
Last month, Charitable Choice was the target of a syndicate attempting to use dozens of stolen European credit cards to make donations via our website. Whilst these Robin Hood characters may have had good intentions, we do not condone illegal behaviour and have worked with our payment processor Stripe to prevent this type of incident from happening again.

We have decided to subscribe to a machine learning software that helps us better evaluate the level of risk for each payment and shield us from attempted fraudulent payments in the future. This will incur an additional fee of HK$0.60 per transaction which we believe is a small price to pay for peace of mind! Our updated credit card fees are as follows -

Hong Kong Visa/Mastercard = 2.5% + $2.95 per transaction
AMEX Int'l Visa/Mastercard = 3.4% + $2.95 per transaction

Customer Experience Survey Results
Thank you to all our individual and corporate donors who took the time to complete our customer experience survey. The responses were overwhelmingly positive and provided wonderful insights into how, when and why people make a charitable choice.

There were several valuable suggestions about our eCards, email correspondence and increasing the number of charity beneficiaries. We're actively working with our website development team to implement these suggestions by the end of summer. Stay tuned!
