Making Good Choices Career Preparation Programme
Making Good Choices aims to provide youth in the 16-24 years age bracket with practical job readiness and presentation skills that will help them attain employment. Led by Charitable Choice Founder, Ms Cheryl Wilson, the programme is run by experienced management executives and HR professionals, supported by volunteers from a diverse range of professional backgrounds.
The programme consists of four themed workshops to equip participating students with the knowledge, behavioural skills, etiquette and confidence to pursue job interviews and capture employment opportunities. Making Good Choices helps young people advance the last mile between having an education and having a job.
The programme is offered to help tackle the high rate of youth unemployment in Hong Kong. According to the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, youth unemployment in Hong Kong continues to be 2-5 times greater than the overall unemployment. In the final quarter of 2014, unemployment rates for 15-19 year-olds and 20-24 year-olds averaged 12% and 8.4% respectively, equivalent to over 29,000 unemployed youth.

Tammy TSANG, BSc (Hons) Aviation Management
The Making Good Choices workshops provided an invaluable experience for me to learn more about preparing for my future career. All of the expert advice from the workshop leaders was useful and professional – especially the detailed guidance on preparing a CV and cover letter. In addition to this they were helpful in preparing us for job interviews by conducting mock interviews and sharing job interview preparation tips from recent graduates who are now Management Trainees in large corporations. After completing this workshop I have clearly established my career goals and enhanced by interview skills.
