About
Established in 1974, The Samaritans is a volunteer-driven, independent, non-religious charity providing unconditional emotion support to those in distress that may also lead to suicide.
Our 24/7 multilingual telephone hotline provides non-judgemental unconditional emotional support. All calls are answered by our team of volunteers who receive rigorous training in advance on empathic listening skills and other necessary skills to give our callers a consistently high standard of service. For those who prefer writing to talking a Befriending email service is also available.
Additionally, a range of outreach programmes is provided as preventive measures to combat suicide along with a support group for those bereaved by suicide.
